The Manager’s Responsibility

Some people think that managing is something that you can do 30% of the time and spend the rest of the time producing and using that as an excuse for not managing people. They can, but then they wouldn’t the manager.

Here’s a quick checklist of buzzwords to see if you are actually performing as a manager or a producer who has been promoted to a post you are obviously unsuited for:

– My deadlines vs Department’s deadlines

– Giving and seeking feedback for my work vs taking and giving feedback to the team

– My morale vs Team morale

– Me producing vs Team producing

– Urgency vs Priority
